Red Rash Around my Eyes

Over the past couple of months I've developed a skin condition around my eyes. It originally started on my eye lids but has since grown and now appears under my eyes. The red rash under my eyes comes and goes and sometimes can be very unsightly. To be honest I'm sick and tired of using excuses when someone asks 'what's wrong with your eyes' I reply with 'shampoo got in my eyes' or 'my hayfever is quite bad at the moment'.

It started on my left eye but has since moved to both eyes. It would always appear inflamed after I'd been in the shower and would usually settle down to a normal colour a few hours later but the flare-ups are totally unpredictable. There are foods out there that help and also contribute to the flare-ups. As you can see in the picture sometimes the rash could be very unsightly, on closer inspection of the rash there appear to be a series of small red spots under the eye. The skin condition that I had is a bout of eczema under the eyes. It is a very common place for eczema to befound along with behind the knees and around your armpits.

Within only 2 weeks the rash had cleared up with a mixture of heavy moisturising and eating the correct foods. I only cut out three things, citrus fruits, eggs and peanuts. I love all three of these things and it was hard to cut out at first but if it's doing the job then you just have to do it.
Now and then it does flare-up again but I need to just remember to take care and it goes away. Having this condition is damaging to your confidence.

What Causes Eczema?
The exact cause of eczema is unknown. People inherit a tendency to the disorder, but the symptoms themselves seem to be set off by a number of 'trigger factors'.

Treatments of Eczema?
Although there are no treatments out there to completely keep eczema away, there are a number of creams that can help you keep it under control. The skin around your eyes is the most sensitive part of your body so you need to be careful when applying any sort of cream. I was recommended to use a corticosteroid cream by my doctor and it made a massive impact within just one week. My eyes were never itchy (although hayfever didn't help them) but the cream reduced the redness and eventualy removed any spots completely. I can now walk around with my head held high and not worry about people looking or asking me questions. Hopefully this information can help you so best of luck.
