Healthy skin reflects a healthy body and great skin care doesn't have to cost the earth. I've researched skin care tips over the years and most of them don't even cost a thing. Here are my top 10 skin care tips:
1. Don't Smoke
Your skin is a large organ and it needs a lot of circulation. Smoking impairs that dramatically. That's why smokers' skin looks dull and gray. Instead of having oxy-generated blood delivered to the surface of the skin, they're getting poisons and oxidants.
2. Avoid Stress
Protect yourself from stress, both emotional and environmental stress.
3. Apply Sunscreen
Protect yourself from the sun, use sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10 and 2.
4. Moisturise Daily
If you want to keep dry skin at bay, you must hydrate your skin on a daily basis. The best time to apply your lotion is right after you've dried off after your shower or bath. Seal in the moisture that's already been absorbed into your skin.
5. Plug in a Humidifier
A humidifier can add much-needed moisture to the air.
6. Drink Water
Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day. Water is vitally important for flushing out the body’s systems and skin is the most visible organ system of all. Dehydration is one of the most common problems that prevents many people from looking or feeling their best.
7. Get Enough Sleep
The easiest way to lose your glow is to cut back on sleep. Dark circles around your eyes are not attractive and the only sure way to defeat them is to sleep for eight hours each night. Cleansing and nighttime moisturising helps your skin rejuvenate itself while you sleep, be it the skin of your heels or that of your face.
8. Eat Healthy
What you eat shows up on your skin. A poor diet will not only leave the skin listless, it would also bring on blemishes over time. Eat junk only if inevitable, and stock up on greens and fruit juices as often as you can. Do so and you can keep acne and even eventual wrinkles at bay.
9. Stop Touching your Face!
Your hands come into contact with so many things, contaminating it with dirt and germs, which you don't want to be transferring onto your face. With that in mind wash your hands regularly and don't forget to moisturize them afterwards.
10. Wash your Pillow Case Once a Week
Dirt, dead skin cells, and debris collect on our pillows from our face and hair, and the air. We spend on average 6-8 hours sleeping each day, that's 6-8 hours each day when our faces are in contact with our pillow case. |
